Honey is Sweet

Angry venting - you are warned. - 2006-07-14

I'm grateful for: going shopping; venting; American style hot dogs

I'm sorry if I lose anyone with this, but, but, but I have to explode somewhere.

This just in from an Israeli (right-wing) paper:

***

A source within the Palestinian Authority revealed Friday that Fatah and Hamas factions are allied with Hizbullah terrorists. The connection is not new, said the source, who asked to remain unnamed.

***

And this is news to ... who?!?! I mean, come on people!

The foreign press is reporting that the IDF has killed almost fifty people in their attacks in Lebannon... most of them civilians. I guess this means that because members of Hizbullah aren't in the Lebanese army they are civilians?

And what about the rockets which continue to fall on the populated areas here in Israel. Our CITIES!!!

Nehariyah has been largely evacuated. Now the mayor of Tzfat is calling for people to evacuate that city. Most residents of Israel, whether arab, druze, Jewish or non-arab-Christian (there are many Xtians who live in the north, particularly around Caesaria) are staying in bomb shelters. Soldiers who live in the north are not allowed to go home because it is too dangerous for them to be in their homes.

Is that being reported? How about the direct hit on a medical centre which killed and injured nine - in the centre of a city.

If you don't want political/national opinions to be confused with the facts, don't read this entry.

If you really think there is 'equivalence' between Israel's targeted attacks, and the wide-spread bombardment of the entire north of our country, do me a favour. Don't read here. I don't want you.

What is with the world? Really, I expect this from Hizbullah, from Hamas, from Syria, from Iran. But what part of this doesn't the rest of the world get and accept?!?

If they give back our soldiers (they attacked first, really) it all stops. I know, I know, I sound like a small child - 'They started it!'

But this is important. If the world chooses to believe that Israel makes unprovoked attacks and indiscriminately kills non-combatants, it is because the world has completely chosen to blind itself to the facts. IF THEY LEAVE US ALONE WE DON'T ATTACK THEM

And yet we are accused of being imperialist, of somehow participating in a 'cycle' of violence, which assumes that both parties have an equal interest in either continuing the violence and/or stopping it.

The foreign press (Gd help you if you read the NYT and think you are 'informed') repeatedly, endlessly, repeats the same old lies, over and over and over again. People believe them - why? Because it's easier? Because they don't want their prejudices confused with the truth? Because if they recognize that there really are 'bad guys' here, then they can no longer justify sitting safe at home on their fat asses and doing nothing?

It doesn't make sense, that last. Because the world has been pretty darned good at sitting on their fat asses and doing nothing regardless of the atrocity, by merely turning a blind eye.

Mind you, I don't have a problem with people not getting involved in other people's problems necessarily. You have to take care of yourself, first. If you don't, you have nothing to give to others, anyway.

My problem is this constant barrage - not the rockets, the media attacks. In the U.S. it's easy enough to miss them, there is enough other news about. Here, you can't get away from it. It's not enough that Israel is a target of - what is it? 22 arab sovereign states, not to mention the 'palestinians,' and receive little or no help from the world outside of Israel...

We wouldn't want to mention the U.N. troops that have withdrawn, time and again, whenever anything threatened because *they* might be endangered.

If we behaved like the other countries of the region - Jordan perhaps - we wouldn't have a Palestinian problem. You know what they did in Jordan? They lined them up and shot seven or nine thousand Palestinians in a single day. Does anyone wonder why the Palestinians are here instead? What would happen if Israel did that?

Yeah. I don't even want to go there.

Israel is not a country like other countries, it is not a nation like other nations. It is a fact, despite the fact that some people want to believe that it is, and that others want to make us just like the other nations.

At the moment it is painful beyond belief to read the libels coming constantly out of the foreign media. It is painful reading about yet another barrage of rockets - Katyushas in the north, Kassams in the south - and reading the injury reports, waiting for names, dreading when it will be someone we know.

I'm hurting inside and I had to explode somewhere.

You don't like it? Don't read here. Don't tell me about it. Just go peddle someplace else.

No comments necessary at all. Prayers, however, are always appreciated.

I'm listening to: the peace and quiet of my West Bank neighbourhood, which amazingly has become one of the safest places in the country. And Eliyahu chattering at Neil
